Course Description

This is a general qualification for entry into sectors of the animal care and management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as animal shelters, kennels, catteries, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics. At this level, work takes place under direct supervision within clearly defined guidelines for work activities.

This online course will appeal to animal enthusiasts, animal hospital staff, clinic nurses, kennel hands, cattery staff, wildlife park keepers, pet shop staff, animal house staff, pet groomers and even for someone looking for a career with animals and even a career change.

ACM20117 Certificate II in Animal Studies

Global Wildlife Training has a partnership arrangement with National Training Master (NTM) to deliver this course. NTM’s RTO code is 91284 and they will issue your certification.

START DATE: Anytime start: Tuesday 4pm to 5pm online course.

DURATION: 1 x hour online class per week, plus an additional 2 hours per week online preparation. Further information will be given to you about your online access before course starts. This will include, course reading material, online resources and information about online chat sessions.
Online sessions will be from 4pm to 5pm once a week on a Tuesday during NSW VET (Vocational Education and Training) terms. This is a one-year course.

COURSE FEE: Single person: $2,750 (see payment plan below).

PRE-REQUISITES: There are no pre-requisites

COURSES REQUIREMENTS: It is highly recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification, the learner must have access to a companion or captive animals’ workplace for 8 hours a week to gain industry experience. GWT can assist you with sourcing a workplace if required. Please note, this is a recommendation only, not a requirement.

PATHWAYS TO FURTHER STUDY: After completing the ACM20117 Certificate II Animal Studies you have the option of further study including:

  • ACM30317 Certificate III in Captive Animals
  • ACM40310 Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services

Course Commencement and Confirmation: A deposit of $1,375.00 must be paid at enrollment. The balance of $1,375.00 is due at the end of the first six months.

About Global Wildlife Training:

GWT is based at a large training facility adjoining the Great Western Highway at Minchinbury, Sydney NSW. We deliver wildlife training all over Australia, face to face and online.

Refunds and Cancellations: Students who cancel their enrolment in a course are entitled to the following refunds:

  • If cancelled more than five (5) business days before the scheduled course start date, students will receive a refund of money paid less a cancellation fee of $50. If at the time of cancellation, the student opts to transfer to the same course at a later date the cancellation fee will not be charged.
  • If cancelled during the last five (5) business days before the scheduled course start date, students will receive a refund of money paid less a cancellation fee of $100. If at the time of cancellation, the student opts to transfer to the same course at a later date the cancellation fee will not be charged.
  • If a student does not cancel their course enrolment prior to the commencement of the course they are not entitled to any refund and the full course price will be payable. If the student submits a new course enrolment, they will be required to pay the full course price for the new enrolment.
  • If a student withdraws after the course has started and they have attended classes, there is no refund. Please note that all cancellations must be in writing on our official withdrawal form which the GWT Office Coordinator can supply to you.
  • If Global Wildlife Training has to cancel or reschedule a course, students will be offered the opportunity to join the new course or receive a full refund of money.

Brad Walker

Trainer
Brad Walker is the CEO and trainer for GWT. He is passionate about animals and online education. Brad has over 30 year’s experience working in the Companion and Captive Animals industry, working with Dingos and Australian kelpies as well as rodent varieties and native animals and reptiles. Brad previously was the Senior Curator at Featherdale Wildlife Park looking after farmyard animals as well as a variety of native animals. Brad is passionate about animal welfare. He is keen to assist you with your animal course learning and has a wide range of experience in finding the career that will suit you.
